Image Nigeria have appointed the former Sweden coach Lars Lagerback to lead them in the 2010 World Cup finals. Just after the ANC 2010 in Angola, the former Super Eagles Manager, Amodu was sacked by the NFF (Nigerian Federation of Football), despite a brillant 3rd place in the coompetition.

Amongst the contenders for this job, Lars Lagerback had to compete with other technicians like Sven Goran Eriksson (Swenden) or Glen Hoddle (England)
